The Aylsham Manor, Aylsham’s oldest house, is a beautiful seventeenth century grade 2*listed building in the heart of the town which has been carefully adapted over the years to provide a safe, homely environment for up to 30 residents.
The house retains many original features and provides comfortable accommodation in a period setting. It is set in lovely grounds of three acres with its tall trees surrounding extensive lawns with paths and seating areas for residents to enjoy.
Care home facilities
There are 29 rooms, all of them with an en-suite toilet and wash basin, and 16 have easy to access showers. A wireless nurse call system means you can summon assistance from anywhere within the grounds as well as from your room. There are ample toilet facilities and two bathrooms both with separate walk in showers and one with the latest hydro-spa bath.
Three lounges, dining room and a small conservatory provide plenty of space and choice of sitting areas where you can socialise or just relax. The Aylsham Manor provides an environment where you will quickly feel at home rather than in an impersonal institution and where staff are carefully selected and trained to provide care that meets your individual needs.
All bedrooms have individually controlled central heating as well as television and telephone points. The wireless nurse call system means you can call for assistance at any time. Every room is different due to the uniqueness of the building and can only be appreciated by viewing. Residents are encouraged to see the Home as their own and you may personalise your room with your own own furniture where this is possible. A small library with large print books, a separate hairdressing area and a small interview room for private conversations with relative or friends, and in the summer our delightful gardens with wheelchair accessible walkways and which is fully enclosed, provide plenty of opportunity to live as independently as you are able whilst knowing that care is always at hand.
For the complete safety of residents the home has adopted a no smoking policy within the Home.
Close to Norwich, The Aylsham Manor has the advantage of being situated right in the heart of Aylsham, close to all local amenities. Aylsham is a traditional Norfolk market town midway between Cromer and Norwich. Being in the centre of a thriving market town means our residents have access to Aylsham’s facilities with a small supermarket just across the road. Family and friends will enjoy the central location as it allows them to accompany you around the town when they visit.
Gold Standard Framework
The Aylsham Manor has an excellent reputation for the quality of care provided, and residents almost always feel at home straight away. We are proud of our dedicated staff and place a high emphasis on training, to ensure standards remain high.
We have recently been re-accredited the nationally recognised Platinum award under the Gold Standards Framework of Care to residents who are in their later stages of life. Our main goal is to support residents to continue to enjoy life by providing a stimulating environment where first rate care is given in a comfortable environment, enabling them to live out their last days without having to move again.
Our staff have been trained in all aspects of care to ensure your health and well being, and to help you maintain your choices, independence and dignity. Sometimes, unfortunately, you may find, for reasons of failing health, your hopes and goals change. At these times, we will discuss your care needs with you and your loved ones so that you can have the confidence that our care will enable you to remain living at The Aylsham Manor.
